Electronic Access Control System controls entry to premises. Authorised users use electronic keys such as PIN numbers, cards or biometric identifiers to gain access. A basic system usually consists of a reader, controller, locking devices, exit button, emergency break-glass switch, backup battery supply and power supply unit.

Systems be categorised into Standalone and PC Networked type. Most Standalone system usually provides 24 hours access where minimum control is required. Whereas the PC Network type is more sophisticated as it is capable of controlling User’s Access Rights (which door allows access to, what day and what time allows access) including report query on User’s movement.
